Locating rats is a fast growing sport that encourages your dog to use their senses to locate live rats secured inside PVC tubes. These tubes are then hidden in various locations within a ring of straw bales. All dogs can learn to locate them, even if it isn’t part of their natural breed tendencies.
All class levels will focus on reinforcing alerts, maintaining value for finding the rats, reading body language, and provide a better understanding of olfaction and odour behaviour. Clearing and distance challenge exercises may also be added in at any level. Coach: May Fischer
BHA is the original and most participated in association, so those are the levels and rules we will be focusing on.
This session will introduce dogs to the rat odour as well as other elements in the Novice level. If your dog likes sniffing, come out and see what all the fun is about!
Note: This seminar is required to register for additional Rat Finding classes.
Prerequisite: Basic Manners
Schedule: Jan 3 @ 8:30-10:30am
Cost: $65 (GST included)
